Thailand: Your Ultimate Retirement Destination

Non-Immigrant ED

Ordinary passport holder, whose purpose of visit is to study in Thailand, is subjected to be granted Non-Immigrant ED Visa.

Required Document

(Please check relevant embassy/ consulate’s website for specifically required documents) To study in a basic education level (primary, elementary, and secondary school)

  • 1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3. Letter confirming enrollment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer.
  • 4. School’s registration certificate.
  • 5. Approval letter from concerned authority under the Ministry of Education.

To study in a higher education level (university and college)

  • 1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 2. Letter confirming enrolment details from school signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the signer.
  • 3. University’s registration certificate.
  • 4. Academic certificate from previous education level.

Internship (Curricular internship), Attending workshop training or seminar organized by International Organization

  • 1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3. Letter confirming the internship/participation in a programme from the company/international organization.
  • 4. Letter confirming the curricular internship from the visa applicant’s university/educational institute.

Buddhism studies (Monk) or performing Buddhism ritual activities

  • 1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3. Approval letter from National office of Buddhism.
  • 4. Confirmation letter from the host temple.
  • 5. Academic certificate from previous level.

Foreigner wishes to perform Buddhism ritual activities

  • 1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3. Travel booking confirmation
  • 4. Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party
  • 5. Confirmation letter from the host temple.

Foreigners seeking to promote or involve in a religious mission with an approval from Thai concerned authority

  • 1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3. Approval letter from Thai concerned authority.
  • 4. Confirmation letter from the host religious organization.
  • 5. Religious organization’s registration certificate.

Validity of a Visa

Single-entry visa is valid for three months.

Period of Stay

The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

Extension of Stay

Those qualified persons can obtain an additional one year stay permit counting from the date of entry in the Kingdom pertaining to the Office of the Immigration Bureau’s regulations on extension of stay. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration officer. Applicants wishing to stay in the Kingdom longer than 90 days have to file their application at the Office of Immigration Bureau in Bangkok located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or website at http://www.immigration.go.th).

Advice

Visa applicants are suggested to submit application at least 15 working days prior to the intended travelling date to Thailand.
