Non-Immigrant O

Family of a Thai national (Immediate family includes spouse and children)

Ordinary passport holder wishing to stay with a family who is a Thai national in the following circumstances can apply for the Non-Immigrant type O Visa.

  • Spouse of a Thai national
  • Children of a Thai national (age must be under 20 years old unless they are unable to support themselves due to mental or physical condition)
  • Legally adopted child of a Thai national (age must be under 20 years old unless they are unable to support themselves due to a mental or physical condition)
  • Parent of a Thai national
  • Applicant has no age restriction in case that the child is under 20 years old.
  • Applicant has no age restriction in case that the child is under 20 years old.

Required Document

  • 1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3. Financial evidence (e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party).
  • 4. Proof of relationship to a family in Thailand.

Voluntary work with NGO/Charity/Association (Without salary)

Required Document

  • 1. Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2. Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3. Letter confirming voluntary work signed by authorized person together with a copy of ID card or passport of the sign.
  • 4. Registration of NGO/Charity/Association.

Visiting or staying with applicant’s family resided in Thailand (more than 60 days)

Required Document

  • 1.Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2.Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3.Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party).
  • 4.Personal details of a family in Thailand, e.g. ID card, Passport and the visa page or stay permit in Thailand.
  • 5.Proof of relationship to a family in Thailand, e.g. A copy of marriage certificate / birth certificate / certificate of adoption.
  • 6.Proof of accommodation in Thailand, e.g. Accommodation bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand.
  • 7.Travel booking confirmation

Thai National Who have abandoned its Thai citizenship

Required Document

  • 1.Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2.Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3.Proof of having Thai citizenship.
  • 4.Travel booking confirmation.

To be a contestant or a witness for the judicial process

  • 1.Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2.Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3.Documents showing the participation in the judicial process.

Medical treatment (longer than 60 days)

  • 3.Letter of appointment from hospital/medical center.
  • 4.Copy of hospital/medical center registration certificate.
  • 5.Financial evidence, e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, proof of sponsorship from a third party).

Diplomat’s housekeeper

Required Document

  • 1.Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months.
  • 2.Photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months.
  • 3.Note verbal requesting for the visa or letter confirming the employment details
  • 4.Registration of NGO/Charity/Association

Validity of a Visa

The validity of a visa is three months.

Period of Stay

The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

Extension of Stay

Those who wish to stay longer must file an application for an extension at the Office of Immigration Bureau located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or website at http://www.immigration.go.th). The extension of stay as well as the change of certain type of visa is solely at the discretion of the Immigration officer.

Advice

Visa applicants are suggested to submit application at least 15 working days prior to the intended travelling date to Thailand.
