Resort Review: Club Med Phuket
Travel blogger Holly O’Sullivan recently had a chance to write us a resort review on Club Med Phuket, which is located right on the beach in Kata Bay.
Built in the style of traditional Longhouses, Phuket’s Club Med resort is a bit of a crowd-pleaser. Surrounded by luscious greenery and with a selection of pools to choose from, Club Med suits any type of holiday, whether that’s intergenerational families or honeymooners.
Club Med Phuket has three types of accommodation, deluxe, club and suite. Club rooms are ideal for families, and overlook the gardens. Deluxe rooms are a little more elegant with balcony or terrace views and decorated in traditional Thai style.
Suites are more like a dream. With an enormous ensuite bathroom, extended balcony, additional bathroom, living room and walk in wardrobe, there’s a bit of everything. All suites have a view of the gardens and Kata Beach in the distance.
Kids Club
There are four kids club programs (from 4 months), which have an incredible range of kid-friendly activities, including an introduction to Thai culture through traditional arts and crafts.
Club Med Spa
At Club Med’s Wellness Centre you will find;
- 5 treatment rooms (individual or duo)
- 1 treatment room (individual)
- 2 rooms with bath (individual or duo) – Turkish Bath; maximum 4 people – Whirlpool Bath;
The special ‘Club Med Paradise’ treatment includes; a 30-minute aromatic herb treatment and whirlpool bath, a 30-minute body exfoliation, a 30-minute body wrap, and then a 2-hour body and face massage.
Excursions
Club Med has many and varied activities, including a trapeze school, scuba diving, golf school, and a wide range of daily excursions including elephant safaris, trips to scenic Phang Nga Bay and more. See their options here.
Dining Out
Club Med has the most impressive lunch buffet that I have ever experienced. In the recently refurbished restaurant The Mamuang has a wide selection of culinary delights ranging from a burger building bar, traditional Thai cuisine, fish and chips and curries.
Additionally, Chu-Da, connected to the hotel across a walkway surrounded by pools and greenery, has a warm and comfy atmosphere with a range of traditional Thai dishes to choose from.
Getting There
Club Med is located about 50km from Phuket airport. Some accommodation packages include airport transfers – however these can also be purchased separately, with some notice. More information here.
